Located close to Hyde Park and The Lanesborough hotel, TEN11 London is an elegant addition to London’s boutique café scene, brought to life through a lighting scheme as warm and enriching as its expertly crafted coffee.
Commissioned to refine the lighting to unlock the full potential of TGP International’s beautifully curated interior, our strategy was to fine tune the existing design to create depth, contrast and rhythm throughout the café.
Light levels were gradually increased towards the rear, making the space feel more inviting to subtly draw guests in from the street; an important consideration given the venue’s discreet positioning behind a dense tree-lined frontage.
At the centre of the café, a curved marble bar wrapped in warm copper details showcases both the artisan delicacies and baristas at their craft. Soft, diffuse lines of light accentuate the materials while a warm colour temperature of 2700K creates a soft, elevating glow.
Large-format plaster-finish tiles run along one wall and are grazed with light to reveal the surface’s textured relief. The effect creates a subtle interplay of light and shadow, which adds richness and tactility to the overall scheme.
Flexibility is built into the lighting scheme through scene setting. During the morning and early afternoon, brighter light levels compensate for the space’s limited access to natural daylight. As the day progresses into early evening, the lighting softens and the tables become more intimate, transforming the entire café into a warm and hospitable setting.
