Gloria Osteria Dubai brings its signature personality and glamour to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at DIFC. Designed by Big Mamma Group’s in-house team, the spirited interior is a feast of colour, pattern and nostalgic touches, an immersive space designed to engage the senses and whisk diners off to a 1970s Milanese villa.
Our lighting scheme is in perfect dialogue with the maximalist aesthetic. We concealed architectural fittings to add warmth and atmosphere, while keeping the focus firmly on the clashing prints, retro artworks and sunset-hued Murano chandeliers.
In a space anchored by colour-drenched chandeliers and retro-style floor and table lamps, subtlety was key when it came to the architectural lighting. Downlights were strategically integrated in the ceiling above the seating areas, while other spaces were kept intentionally soft and low level.
A dramatic double-volume wine display welcomes guests as they arrive. Above, a mirrored ceiling heightens the sense of theatre, creating a mesmerising infinity effect. Linear uplights concealed within the shelving illuminate the bottles from below, adding extra depth and visual drama.
On the terrace, intimate pockets of light break up the scale of the expansive dining area. Decorative lamps anchor each table setting, and vertical illumination on the surrounding trees and planting defines the perimeter. Together, these lighting elements make the outdoor area feel comfortable and intimate after dark.
Given the overall reliance on decorative fixtures for ambient illumination, high-quality lighting control was crucial. Adjustability was a key consideration to maintain balance throughout the day and evening, and each fixture was also individually tested with the control system to ensure smooth, flicker-free dimming.
