Designed by Dabbagh Architects, the Mosque of Light is a minimal yet stunning piece of architecture characterised by geometric forms and refined materials. The lighting design complements the contemporary architecture and contributes to the tranquillity of the space.
Our lighting concept takes its lead from the architecture, with every intervention being precise, measured, and respectful. Light levels are carefully balanced to create a beautiful harmony between the architecture and the light, resulting in an atmosphere of serenity.
Concealed cove lighting emphasises the depth and height of the hall, washing the walls and subtly highlighting the minbar. The pale surfaces allow the lighting to be reflected, creating an elegant, soothing glow. Backlighting behind the mihrab adds a gentle accent, indicating the direction of prayer.
Uplighting accentuates the perforated golden canopy, creating an inviting warmth within the white structure that is complemented by the reflective surface of the water feature below.
Recessed linear grazers illuminate triangular patterns and Quranic verses that wrap around the exterior. This produces a graceful play of light and shadow across the carved elements, giving the illusion that the structure is floating.
Rings of light highlight the minaret’s architectural detailing, while the geometrical pattern of the caller balcony glows from within. A wash of illumination enhances the mosque’s dome and mimics daylight spilling through the carved triangular features.
