FZN by Chef Björn Frantzén is a one-of-a-kind fine dining destination at Atlantis, The Palm, that draws inspiration from the chef’s Michelin-starred restaurants in Stockholm and Singapore. In collaboration with interior design studio Bishop Design, we developed a lighting scheme that defines the culinary experience, creating an unforgettable sensory journey.
Every element of the highly curated FZN journey had to be illuminated with purpose and creativity. The architectural lighting centres on elevating the atmosphere while decorative lighting adds to the allure and originality of the experience. The result is a lighting scheme packed with layers and intrigue.
A solitary downlight accents the understated doorway. A softly lit reception area with diffuse lines of light in the ceiling guides guests to the glowing reception desk – evoking a sense of exclusivity.
Adorned with smoked crystals, an unexpected floating-tree artwork is encircled by a halo of light, creating an otherworldly feel and anticipation for what awaits.
A sequence of downlights marks the path, while backlit panels along the walls showcase a curated mix of produce in jars. Lush overhanging plants are accentuated by discreet concealed luminaires.
A moody, high-contrast lighting scheme takes things up a notch. Focused beams spotlight the chef’s table and transform the open kitchen into a performance space, heightening the dining experience.
Narrow beam downlights wash ambient light onto tables and a Bomma chandelier – creating patterns of light and shadow – complements the proportions of the domed ceiling. Integrated illumination in the architecture emphasises decorative niches, red tiles, and gold patterns across the dark walls.
